The City of North Miami offers Residents 18 Years of Age & Older the Opportunity to Receive the Covid-19 Vaccine

North Miami, FL – April 5, 2021

The City of North Miami will host a vaccination event for residents who wish to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. There will be 600 Johnson & Johnson one-time vaccines doses administered by appointment only at the Griffing Community Center (located at 12220 Griffing Blvd., North Miami, FL 33161) on Sunday, April 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This District 3 community vaccination site will be sponsored by Councilwoman Estimé-Irvin in collaboration with Representative Christopher Benjamin, Holy Family Catholic Church, Florida Department of Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health. Vaccines will be free of charge and available for residents who are 18 years of age and older in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order Number 21-79. Pursuant to the order, effective on April 5th, all Floridians will be eligible to receive any Covid-19 vaccine available.

The vaccines will help protect residents against the coronavirus and they do not contain the live virus that causes COVID-19. This means that a COVID-19 vaccine cannot make you sick with COVID-19. There are several different types of vaccines in development. All of them teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. This process may cause mild symptoms which are normal and are a sign that the body is building protection against the virus. After receiving the vaccine, the CDC recommends residents continue to wear a mask, social distance, and follow other public health precautions.

The deadline to register for an appointment is Thursday, April 15, 2021. Residents must show proof of Florida residency (for example: monthly mortgage statement, utility bill, or any other documentation that provides proof of address) and a valid driver’s license upon arrival. To register for the event, call the Office of the Mayor and Council at 305-895-9818. For information regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus
