The Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade County and the Community Action and Human Services Department have collaborated to support immigrants at the Welcoming Miami Day Event to celebrate Welcoming Week. In partnership with community organizations and providers, support will be offered to immigrants and a showcase of cultural performances. Various training workshops will be available, including assistance in starting a business.
Welcome Week is celebrated inclusive and embraced by communities around the globe, together with Miami-Dade County.
Residents are welcome to attend the event on Sept.18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downtown Main Library, 101 W. Flagler Street, Miami, FL 33130.
Join a day of activities to celebrate contributions of Miami-Dade immigrants, where information and resources to welcome newcomers will be available.
On the day of the event, you can learn more on:
- Access legal assistance for your immigration, family, and eviction case
- How to start your own business
- English language learning
- Medical and Dental Assistance
- How to prepare your resume and get a job
- Education and how to validate your degree
- How to open a bank account
Enjoy music, dance performance and much more.
At the Office of New Americans of Miami-Dade County, daily referrals are offered to individuals seeking any of these services.
Monthly orientation sessions are also available to assist newcomers:
- Know Your Rights (KYR): The essential legal information for new arrivals
- Welcome to Miami (WTM): The important aspects of life in Miami-Dade, including transportation, education, civics and more
