Freedom Tower Metromover Station now open

The Freedom Tower Metromover Station is now open after major renovations were completed. 

The project was a joint effort completed by DTPW and the developers of the Miami Worldcenter building complex, a Transit Oriented Community (TOC) adjacent to the station. 

The Freedom Tower Station is conveniently located on the north side of Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus providing access to students and to the institution’s National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower, Miami’s beloved Ellis Island of the South. The station also provides quick access to the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami HEAT. Fans and concert goers can ride Metromover FREE to the station for quick and easy access to the Kaseya Center.   

The Freedom Tower Station enhancements include:

  • New elevator shaft and elevator system
  • New escalator
  • New stairs and a canopy to protect users from the elements
  • New landscaping
  • New finishes to platform floor

Construction started in the summer of 2020. 

Metromover is a free elevated people mover system that operates seven days a week in the downtown Miami, Omni, and Brickell areas. Other major destinations along the system include Bayside Marketplace, Miami Dade College, and the Miami-Dade County School Board.
