Distracted driving is anything a driver does that could take the focus away from the main task of driving the car. Any distraction can be dangerous to anyone inside or outside of the car. Texting requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the driver, making texting the most alarming distraction. The average time a driver’s eyes are off the road while texting is five seconds. If you’re driving 55 mph while texting, it’s like driving the length of a football field while blindfolded!
And in case you didn’t know…
Texting and driving is illegal in Florida!
