Annual Convention Committee seeks Presidential Showcase submissions

With the 2024 Annual Florida Bar Convention just six months away, the Annual Convention Committee is now accepting proposals from Bar sections and committees to designate their CLE programs as Presidential Showcase events.

But time is running out as the application period ends January 5.

“President Scott Westheimer and President-elect Roland Sanchez-Medina, along with the Annual Convention Committee, invite your group to submit a thorough and comprehensive outline for a seminar to be held on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday during Annual Convention,” according to Annual Convention Co-chairs Amelia Beard, Giselle Gutierrez, Lori Ellen Ward, and Tad Yates. “If your seminar is selected for the President’s Showcase, the Annual Convention Committee will reimburse your group up to a maximum of $4,000 for the expenses associated with speaker travel, audiovisual costs, and/or course materials.

The committee will select and recommend seminars based on the following criteria:

  • Appeals to a large number of Annual Convention attendees and is timely and relevant;
  • Program instructors who are knowledgeable in the area of law presented; and
  • Completeness of the outline submitted.

The convention is set for June 19 – 22, 2024 at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.

Again, the deadline for outline submissions is 5 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024. The selections will be made by the Annual Convention Committee at its meeting during The Florida Bar Winter Meeting in January.

Forward proposed seminar outlines to Beth Anne Trombetta, the Bar’s director of Meetings & Convention, at [email protected].
