Miami missed out on Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers is a little petty — Colin | THE HERD

Tom Brady spoke yesterday about the teams that passed on him when he was available after leaving the New England Patriots last offseason. One of those teams was the Miami Dolphins. Colin Cowherd breaks down what could have happened for the Dolphins had they been aggressive and picked up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ QB. Plus Colin compares Aaron Rodgers to Tom Brady & Giannis Antetokounmpo and explains why he thinks the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback is ‘a little petty’.

  1. This is actually a great take by Colin. Miami could very well have been the team Brady was talking about and Ryan Fitzpatrick the MFer QB. Here are the reason why:
-Brady was a free agent before the 2020 draft. Brady signed with the Bucs before the draft so the only QB on Miami roster was Fitzpatrick. No Tua on the roster.
-Fitzpatrick was the starting QB at one point in his career for every AFC East team except for the Pats. It is fair to say Brady knows of Fitzpatrick and might not like him cause they played against each other a lot.
-Fitzpatrick and Brady both are older QBs at the ends of their careers. Brady is a lot better than Fitzpatrick at his age while Fitzpatrick is below average QB.
-Brian Flores and Brady have worked together other 10 years and probably have a well developed relationship.
-Coach Flores and Brady come from the same system and background.
-Bradys wife is a super model and Miami is one of the fashion capitals of the world. She would have a lot of business opportunities here.
-Brady ended up in Florida anyway playing for Tampa. Probably his second choice of where he wanted to play.

  2. They all passed on Brady because he's older and they all remember how Montana worked out for the Chiefs. He was good enough to get the Chiefs to the AFC Championship but he just didn't have what it took to move past that. That's probably sort of how they were all looking at Brady. But Brady obviously proved them all wrong.

  3. Probably get a lot of hate for this but hindsight's 20/20.. Mr Colin it's easy to make that argument now that TB won the super bowl, but I could recall you having doubts about the coaching in Tampa Bay Bruce Arians and Tom Brady, at one time t during the season they were even a dumpster fire.

  4. 100% Rogers should have been at the game. There's no excuse for it being part owner of the team. He could have attended to show support and not discussed anything about his situation and kept it moving.

  5. I'm a life long packers fan. I don't think that Aaron realizes that we are PACKERS fans. Regardless of whose fault this is, at this point Aaron is a cancer for the Packers. I would rather cut out the cancer and have a losing season or 2 or 5 or 10 and have players like Aaron Jones that love being in GB. Give him what he wants trade him take the cap hit get a couple first round picks and move on from the drama bc this guy isn't gonna stop with the drama. If Adams doesn't want to play bc Aaron isn't there trade him too. Forget the drama GO PACK GO!

  6. Eh, this was pretty Hindsight-y to me. Miami, at the time, had a chance to draft a POTENTIAL franchise QB. Brady, at the time, was old, coming off a down year, and was leaving the only team he had played for. NOBODY, except for Brady himself, truly believed that he wasn't just some system QB. Miami made the smart bet AT THE TIME; get yourself a 10 year franchise QB, and pass on an aging QB who may only have 2 years left.

  7. Be aggressive, so Packers spend (1) draft pick on skill position offensive player since 2008 and don’t sign any free agents, but Rodgers has had a ton of help.

Also, love the media reversing course on Giannis now.

Before it was “just build a wall” and he’s useless. Now, he’s humble and healthy!

  8. Let’s all remember now that the Dolphins have the 30th rated O-line in football before Herbert fans come out and say he’s got no help this year

  9. Colin your flip flopping is embarrassing to an unprecedented level. A lot of people do it, but the way you don’t even acknowledge how wrong you were is infuriating lol and I still continue to watch so well done

  10. We don't know if Tua can ever carry a whole franchise🤷🏽‍♂️ But we definitely know a top 10 defense and a real good spacial teams sure did carry him 👶🏾🧜🏾‍♂️🤕👀😬🤦🏽‍♂️
